Dr. Perry Mansfield specializes in diseases related to the Head and Neck. As an internationally recognized leader in skull base disorders, Dr. Mansfield created and developed one of the premiere centers for skull base surgery in the Southwestern United States. His role as a head and neck surgeon focuses on disorders of the skull base which includes nasal and sinus disorders, sleep apnea, skull base tumors, salivary and thyroid tumors.

Dr. Mansfield is also a recognized leader in the development of minimally invasive procedures related to endoscopic removal of skull base tumors such as pituitary tumors. He has helped pioneer 3-dimensional endoscopic navigational techniques related to otolaryngology and skull base disorders. He has developed radiology protocols to identify caused of sleep apnea and identify surgical treatment methods for sleep apnea and related disorders. He is currently working on research analysis of drug eluting stents in minimally invasive sinus surgery, and standardization of surgical protocols for sleep apnea surgery.

Perry T. Mansfield, M.D., was born in 1962 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and grew up in Toronto. He obtained his medical school degree with honors and dean's list designation from the University of Toronto in 1987. This was followed by a residency in otolaryngology head and neck surgery with board certifications in both the United States and Canada in 1994 and 1993 respectively. Dr. Mansfield completed a fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery as related to head and neck oncology at the University of Toronto. He moved to San Diego in 1993 where he formed and developed one of the first comprehensive skull base surgery programs in the United States. He was the program medical director for the Center for Skull Base Surgery which was a joint program between University of California San Diego and Alvarado Hospital Medical Center. He directed this program for several years before participating in the development of the Senta Clinic, which has become recognized as one of the premiere skull base disorders centers in the world. Senta Clinic comprises a multispecialty team of Head and Neck Surgery, Neurosurgery and Neurology, all dedicated to the challenging disorders that affect the skull base.

Dr. Mansfield is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, and the Canadian Board of Otolaryngology. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Canada. He has held distinguished medical staff designations including Chief of Staff, Chief of Surgery, Chief of Skull Base Surgery, Director of Head and Neck Oncology, and Director of Speech and Swallowing Disorders. He is a past president of the San Diego County Society of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. Memberships include American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, California Medical Association, San Diego County Medical Society, and the North American Skull Base Society. Dr. Mansfield has authored or presented numerous scientific works focused on head and neck oncology and skull base disorders and has been and continues to be an invited guest of many local, regional, national, and international societies.

He has been voted by his peers for San Diego Magazine 5 years in a row as top Otolaryngologist, Head and Neck surgeon in San Diego County. He has been voted among the top Otolaryngologists in the United States by the Consumers Research Council 9 years in row.

Dr. Mansfield practices at Sharp Memorial hospital, Scripps Memorial hospital, Sharp Grossmont Hospital and Alvarado Hospital. His philanthropic interests have evolved to have been a founder and developer of the Steven Prewitt Skull Base disease Foundation for which he sits as Chairman since its inception.
