Expertise of Dr. Christina Douglas

Christina E. Douglas, MD is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with a special interest in orbital disease,
neuro-ophthalmology, and ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Douglas completed her
undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Behavior at Barnard College, Columbia University, where
she graduated with honors and was selected to be a member of the national Phi Beta Kappa honor
society. She earned her medical degree from the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences
where she graduated magna cum laude and was inducted as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor
society. She completed her internship in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital and her
residency in Ophthalmology at the Flaum Eye Institute at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
She is currently pursing further specialized training in orbital disease, neuro-ophthalmology, and
ophthalmic plastics and reconstructive surgery at SENTA clinic under the preceptorship of Dr. Kimberly
Cockerham and Dr. Allison McCoy.

Dr. Christina Douglas has a wide range of clinical interests that encompass conditions affecting the orbit (the
space behind the eye), the optic nerve, and the skin and soft tissues of the forehead, eyebrows and
eyelids, and the lacrimal outflow system (the tear drainage system). She has a special interest in the
management of thyroid eye disease (TED) and is actively engaged in clinical trials investigating the
treatment of this disease, including trials investigating the use of Tepezza, the only FDA approved
treatment for TED. She also has a strong interest in facial rejuvenation with aesthetic reconstructive
surgery and skin rejuvenation with chemical peels, Botox, and dermal fillers.

Dr. Christina Douglas’ philosophy towards her patients is that medicine and surgery should be undertaken with a
holistic approach focused on overall health and wellness and is a strong proponent of an anti-
inflammatory lifestyle for health, wellness, and longevity. As one of four daughters, she understands
that facial refinement is a deeply personal journey, and aims to prescribe treatments that highlight one’s
natural character and beauty while leveraging your body’s own anatomy and regenerative capacity to
restore a youthful, refreshed aesthetic.

Outside of her medical practice, Dr. Douglas enjoys spending time with her family and her malti-poo
Clementine. A native of Buffalo, New York, she is beyond excited to adopt the active, beach lifestyle of
San Diego (with plenty of SPF of course!).
